No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies, how it works, and what the alternatives are if you don't.
Many carriers today offer accelerated underwriting: for people within certain age bands and amount limits, they decide based on your application, prescription records, driving history and other data instead of a medical exam. Some decisions come back the same day. Each quote says whether the carrier requires an exam, might need one, or doesn't need one for that product.
What it changes
Acceleration doesn't mean skipping underwriting. Your answers get checked, and if a policy is written based on wrong answers, it can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier's records raise questions, they may ask for an exam or labs—and you can decide then whether to go forward.
Who tends to qualify
Generally people under about 60 who are buying up to the carrier's accelerated limits, with no serious health history and no tobacco use for a year or more. If you've had a recent doctor's visit with labs, some carriers will use those results instead of asking for another exam.
If an exam is needed, it's typically a 20 to 30 minute appointment at your home or office in the Glendora area, covered by the carrier. For healthy applicants the results can actually move you to a better rate, so an exam isn't necessarily something to dread.
